Number 39

{ 18-0 } I taught Amanda to chant Maroney as I huddled in my green chenille blanket. I don't know how fans can sit there in the frigid cold at Gillette Stadium, but it was all worth it. The Chargers kept pounding us and the Patriots pounded right on back. Laurence Maroney sure had some fancy feet work, but he also knew how to power through the Chargers. A victory of 21-12, with Amanda in my arms, Maroney left me dancing for joy. Yeah baby, the Patriots are off to the Super Bowl!

Charming Nature Prints

I am loving treetop studio from Portland, Oregon. Jennie has a wonderful sense of zen in her illustrations from modern hand drawn shapes to organic loving botanicals. She hand-prints her charming illustrations with a Gocco press. The mix of contemporary colors of beige, dark orange, dark teal, celadon and salmon inks are soothing. My favorite is the bird and shapes prints. It's birdie-rific!

I'm Skinned

I just have to post about these cool stylish new Gelaskins, a removable film that covers your techy gadgets. It's cool and hip, an awesome way to show off your inner self. I wish I can customize my MacBook Pro with my own illustration, maybe this idea will expand and I can upload my own artwork. My favorite is the Hibiscus and BlowFish.

Brady Perfect

{ 17-0 } The Patriots advanced to the AFC Championship game with a 31-20 victory over the Jacksonville Jaguars on Saturday night. Tom Brady threw a near-perfect game, completing 26 passes out of 28. It was an awesome at the edge of my seat game being tied at halftime. Third quarter, Brady executed the Statue of Liberty play. A spinning fake handoff to Kevin Faulk before throwing a touchdown to Wes Welker, which pretty much cinched the game.

Old School

I am feeling a little nostalgic and got the ho hum post-holiday blahs. Looking at illustrated birds and pretty florals always help cheers me up. I am enjoying the work of Brian Reed who owns a small letterpress studio, Old School Stationers in Portland, Oregon. Each beautiful illustration is hand drawn and printed with rich bold colors on an old cast iron letterpress.

Something to Write About

Dear Olive is a quaint little letterpress print shop in Needham, MA offering stationery, cute birth announcements, fun packaged notecards and limited prints. It's delightful to see a range of vintage artwork collected from sources like The New Yorker and Harper's Bazaar, it adds a whimsical tone of yesteryear in a modern fashion. An ode to loopy handwriting and receiving a simple written note in the mail.
